The 2K23 Summer League finals on Sunday brought the Portland Trail Blazers their second trophy since 2017. The phenomenal performance exhibited by Brandon Williams put them in the lead against the New York Knicks in the nail-biting game. The Blazers finished the game 85-77 and took home this year’s Summer League trophy.

Along with the 22-point run of Brandon Williams, the reserves of the Trail Blazers contributed 36 points in this crucial game. Among the reserves, Jabari Walker finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. On the other end, the impressive performance of Trendon Watford, with 19 points and 7 rebounds, made him the uncontested choice for the MVP honors.

While commenting on the team’s performance, Watford said when the team returned, they turned it up. He also added that he’s proud of all the team members. The MVP of the match also acknowledged the Knicks’ resistance in the first half and their comeback toward the end.

Led by coach Tom Thibodeau, the New York Knicks performed a similar Sunday performance. From the Knicks dug out, five players finished with double-digit scores. Quentin Grimes topped the list with an impressive 19 points, followed by Miles McBride and Jericho Sims, who contributed 17 and 13 points, respectively. Feron Hunt and Micah Potter each chipped in 10 points for New York during the finals.

The Sunday game began with the Knicks taking the initial lead. However, the Trail Blazers fought hard in the subsequent quarter to have a 16-point lead towards the end of the 3rd quarter. The unsuccessful comeback of the Knicks towards the end brought the final score to 85-77, and the Trail Blazers took their second Summer League trophy from a total of three finals played since 2017.
