Rush Street achieves RGC’s RG Check accreditation

Rush Street Interactive has become “the first US-based online casino and sports betting company” to receive RG Check igaming accreditation from the Responsible Gambling Council for its BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse sites.

Rush Street, which is live in Colombia as well as thirteen US states, will launch its BetRivers online casino and sportsbook in Ontario on April 4, 2022, the first day of authorised online gaming in the province.

“Receiving RG Check accreditation is a testament to our commitment and execution of RSI’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which includes the continued implementation of the company’s responsible gaming initiatives,” said Richard Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer of RSI.

“We want to ensure our valued customers and employees are equipped with the tools and resources necessary to help ensure a culture of safe, fair and fun gaming experiences.”

Yesterday, the RGC disclosed that its RG Check accreditation program had been “embedded into the requirements for all online gaming operators entering the Ontario marketplace” by iGaming Ontario.

The program, which is already utilised by land-based casinos in the region, will aim to ensure the highest standards of responsible gambling are maintained when operators enter the market.

RGC’s RG Check accreditation is required after entering an operating agreement with iGC, however, operators can choose to complete the process in advance.”

The accreditation process looks to help gambling venues and igaming sites evaluate, monitor and manage all aspects of their RG strategy and operations.

In addition to unveiling receipt of this latest accreditation, RSI has also voiced pride at doing so “more than two years ahead of iGaming Ontario’s mandated schedule for all igaming operators to do so as a condition of participating in this market”.

“RG Check is a clear demonstration that an operator prioritises and embeds responsible gambling into the core of its operations. RGC commends BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse for achieving RG Check accreditation,” explained Shelley White, CEO of the Responsible Gambling Council.

“This achievement represents RSI’s commitment to transparency, player safeguards, duty of care and continuous improvement, as well as contributes to creating a culture of responsible gambling and sustainable play.

“RG Check is an invaluable tool for managing risk and increasing the effectiveness of RG programming. RGC is proud to provide continuous support to RSI’s harm minimisation efforts.”

Beginning April 4, private gaming operators that have registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and have executed an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario can begin offering their games to players in the region.
